DESCRIPTION:A Ukrainian Door art installation by Robert Marshall will be on display in the Alphege Chapel.\n \nRobert Marshall\, from Wareham in Dorset\, salvaged the door from Toretsk\, a city in eastern Ukraine that once was home to 30\,000 people. It is marked with scorch damage from a blast and has a hole blown through it. \nThe sculpture is being exhibited alongside stories of Ukrainian families and refugees to highlight their experiences of Russia’s full-scale invasion. \nFind out more.

DESCRIPTION:Music for Remembrance\, Peace\, and Reconciliation\nBath Abbey Choirs directed by Huw Williams \nReturning from singing at The Menin Gate in Belgium and visiting the Great War graves\, the Abbey choirs present Fauré’s beautiful and much-loved Requiem on Remembrance Weekend. As we celebrate Sir John Rutter’s 80th birthday\, we perform his exquisite Hymn to the Creator of Light which was written in memory of Herbert Howells. \nWe remember Orlando Gibbons on this the 400th anniversary of his death\, as we sing his poignant Drop\, drop slow tears. During this the 275th anniversary of the death of J S Bach we perform his elegant motet\, Der Geist hilft\, which was written in 1729 for the funeral of a blessed Rector\, Professor Ernesti. \nPerformed by candlelight with poignant readings – this will be a beautiful evening as we remember those who have given their lives in the service of their country. \nBook tickets.

DESCRIPTION:A short reflective service with reflections on Scripture\, prayers and lighting candles supported by instrumental musicians\, which lasts for approximately 30 minutes. \nThis informal evening service also welcomes everyone of all ages to worship and prayer\, and draws on the worship style of Taize. \nWe are uniquely positioned\, with our half a million visitors a year to the Abbey\, to listen to and to celebrate stories of faith from around the world\, and this is what we aim to do in this service. It is a perfect way to end the day.

DESCRIPTION:In Remembrance: Armistice Day \nTuesday 11 November\nEleventh Hour of The Eleventh Day of The Eleventh Month \nThe two minutes silence will be incorporated into a short Act of Remembrance in the Abbey Church Yard.\nAt 11.00 am a Bugler will mark the start and finish of the silence to remember those who lost their lives in the service of their country.\nThe Mayor (Councillor Professor Bharat Pankhania) will be in attendance.
